Like all municipalities in the Province of Ontario, London was expected to be fully accessible under the Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act as of 2025. There are several areas where the City is deficient and council has a direct role to play in accessibility.
We strongly believe in the importance of universal accessibility. If a community has barriers that actively prevent a selected group from fully accessing everything the community has to offer — either intentional or not — that is ableism.
London has elements of systemic ableism. London has also had council decisions reinforce that systemic ableism. This site is not intended to litigate the past, but give the candidates a forum to tell the community how it will support inclusion, how it will live up to AODA expectations, and how they will work to ensure that every person, regardless of their situation, will be able to fully and equitably participate in the community around them.
